Who is Jasmin?
Hey everyone! Thanks for visiting my site. I wanted to tell you all a little about me. I am originally from Crossville, Tennessee. I moved to Georgia in 2001 to teach 4th grade at a wonderful school. My husband and I met at bar in 2004. He kept flirting with me (he would tell you it is the other way around) all night long. I knew immediately that he was a special guy and that I had to snag him up. We married in June 2006. I became at stay at home mom after having our child in 2007. I went back to school and obtained my Master's degree in elementary education in 2009. In 2009, I bought a science field-trip business. I get to go to elementary schools and teach science and I love it! I also homeschool my daughter. She loves to learn and I love the fact that I get to be her teacher.
The Weight Struggle
I haven't always struggled with my weight. I was very active in school and loved cheerleading and playing tennis. After having my daughter in 2007, I found a love of baking. With baking comes eating all of the tasty goodies. At my heaviest, I was 234 lbs. I have tried almost every diet you can ever imagine...counting calories, juicing, seafood only (I hate seafood), and point counting. They all worked great at first, but I always gained the weight back.
How I Got Picked for the Show
This is a funny story. I sign my husband up for everything. I mean, literally, everything. I had him living in a raft at Six Flags. So, of course I signed him up for this. The casting people called and asked if he knew anyone else that might want to be on the show and he said ME?! We both went through a Skype interview and thought it went really well. The next step after that was to send in pictures and home movies. We sent those in and didn't hear anything back for months. Finally one day I got an email to submit some paperwork. My response was, you mean Kevin needs to submit it, right? Nope, they wanted me! I wasn't sure I wanted to do this. I knew my life was going to be drastically changed. I am so thankful for this wonderful opportunity and I am excited to share my weight loss journey with you.
After the Show
Losing weight on tv is easy. Keeping it off when the cameras leave is hard. Since the show I have been trying to find a balance between healthy and happy. Some days, I succeed. Other days, I struggle. I still super swap my food and enjoy going to the gym. I wake up everyday and continue to strive to be the best version of me that I can be. I have been lucky enough to pair up with Ingles Markets and share my healthy swaps on their website, www.ingles-markets.com. This is one of the best jobs I have ever had. I have so much fun filming and doing live cooking demos. Check out the website for some great recipes!
