I did not like going to the doctor, for anything! I think it is because I have had a couple of bad experiences. After I had Callie I went to get my hormones checked because I couldn't lose weight. The doctor told me there was nothing wrong with me and I was just "fat". The doctor, literally said that to me. After that, I didn't go back to see a doctor until I broke me leg. Two years ago I was playing tennis with my dad and I went running to get a ball and my shoe string got stuck in a fence. I turned to run, not knowing my foot was stuck and twisted my leg. I have never felt such pain before in my life. Long story short, I had a spiral fracture from my knee to my ankle. It was horrible. I went to a great doctor. After I was starting to walk again I asked him when I could start running again and he said never. I shouldn't run because I am "plus sized". I was humiliated. Because of these experiences, I was not looking forward to going to the doctor for the show. I also didn't want to hear what he had to say. I was so scared that I was going to have a lot of medical issues. I had put my head in the sand for many years because I didn't want to hear it. From the moment I met Dr. Isaacs, I knew he was different. He explained everything to me. He was kind, caring, empathetic, and had my best interest at heart...always. He told me from that day that I was his patient and he was there for me. This was all true. I got to see him every week . Every time I saw him he spent time talking and actually listening to me. When I went in to Dr. Isaacs I found out that I had high cholesterol and was pre-diabetic. Thanks to Dawn and Dr. Isaacs, I am no long pre-diabetic or have high cholesterol or high blood pressure. I am so thankful I met Dr. Isaacs. He changed my opinion about doctors. I will no longer go for years without having a check-up. If you haven't seen a doctor in years out of fear or because you haven't had a good experience with doctors, go. Take the time to find a good one. You will be so thankful you did. It is much better to know what's going on in your body than to sit around thinking everything is okay. If you need a great endocrinologist, go see Dr. Scott Isaacs at Atlanta Endocrine Associates.
